Install day · closings · retest
Most systems go in about a day. Here's the real timeline
Most straightforward radon systems in Johnson City go in about a day once we have seen the foundation. The part people forget is everything around that day: the site visit, the design, the electrical, and the post-mitigation test window. Same-day from a cold call is not a promise, especially on a split hillside or a house that needs a new circuit. Call (423) 455-9162 with the town and the foundation if a closing is on the clock.
Site visit and design
We need to see how the house touches soil. A ranch on one dirt crawl is a short look. A Buffalo Mountain walkout with a crawl uphill is two volumes. Jonesborough stone and a later addition is another conversation.
Bring the test report if you have one. We design a pressure field for this foundation, not a pipe that looks tidy from the driveway. If we cannot hit your inspection window, we will say so.
Install day
For a typical crawl membrane or a simple slab pit, install day is often one working day. Fan, piping, sealing, discharge above the roof, manometer, label. You can usually sleep in the house.
What stretches the day, or turns it into two:
- Split foundations that need suction on both faces
- Ugly discharge paths (we do not dump exhaust into a window you open)
- Electrical that is not already near the fan location
- Wet crawls that need a water conversation before we wrap the soil
We will not pretend a hillside split is a two-hour ranch job. The mitigation page is what the system actually is.
After the fan: the test window
The fan starts pulling the day it goes in. The number in the hallway still needs a real post-mitigation test after the house has settled. That is how you know the pressure field is doing the work. We do not skip it. We do not promise a guaranteed reading such as "under 2.0" before we see the foundation.
If this started as a failed purchase test, the after a failed radon test page covers who pays and the retest. Cost ranges live on the radon mitigation cost in Johnson City page.
Same-day, closings, and honesty
Same-day mitigation from a voicemail is rare. Same-week is more realistic when the foundation is simple and the calendar is open. A contract with five days left and a walkout we have not seen is a different sentence.
Do not wait until the last Wednesday of the inspection window. Ask us for our certification ID if you are comparing bids. Then call (423) 455-9162 or request a quote with the closing date, the foundation, and the test number.
Short answers on the clock
Is radon mitigation a same-day job in Johnson City?+-
The install itself is often one day for a straightforward crawl or slab. Same-day from a first call is rare. We still need to see the foundation, and some houses need electrical or two suction points.
Can a system fit inside a closing timeline?+-
A simple ranch crawl often can if you start when the report lands, not the week of the walkthrough. Split hillside foundations, historic stone crawls, and new electrical take longer. Tell us the inspection deadline.
When do you retest after the fan goes in?+-
After the house has settled, not while someone is still carrying pipe through the kitchen. The post-mitigation test is how you know the pressure field is doing the work. We do not skip it.
